What is the next Dreamlight Valley update? Each new update to the valley adds new characters, features, and quests to the life sim, and we already know there’s a lot of room for new faces to be added. Fans on social media have previously requested the likes of Cinderella, Belle, and Stitch – and two out of three ain’t bad, so we know Gameloft are listening.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is now officially out of early access, and the first part of the Dreamlight Valley Rift in Time DLC has been released too. As such, Dreamlight Valley has never been better, and its vibrant community, speedy bug fixes, and regular content updates have already cemented Dreamlight Valley as one of the best life games around. Even if you don’t want to splash out on paid content, there is still plenty of new content added to the free base game in regular content updates, so here’s everything we know about the next free Dreamlight Valley update.
Next Dreamlight Valley update
Update 8, The Pumpkin King Returns, was released on December 5, 2023. Given the update schedule so far and the official roadmap, we expect the next Dreamlight Valley update to arrive on around Feburary 27, 2024.
Dreamlight Valley updates are usually around three months apart, being released on either a Tuesday or Wednesday. Following the December 5 update, this was take up to the first week of March. However, given the schedule of the roadmap, with a Monsters Inc realm opening its magical door in “Late Winter”, the last week in February would keep the update release in line with both the roadmap and three-monthly release schedule.
We know that Monsters Inc is the next Disney IP to arrive in the valley thanks to said roadmap, which you can see below. The entry for update 9 shows a smiley Mike Wazowski posing in front of Skull Rock. It’s only apt that the monsters (assuming he won’t come without Sulley) come to the valley through the door of their own realm, given the importance of magical doors in their own lore.
Dreamlight Valley update schedule
Update 7 pretty much reverted back to the standard two-monthly schedule that Gameloft has stuck to so far, following the DreamSnaps outlier. The December update kept this trend going, with the following update expected to launch in February.

- September 13, 2023: Enchanted Adventure update opens the Beauty and the Beast realm.
- July 19, 2023: In the DreamSnaps update, take your best trackside photos as Vanellope Von Schweetz races into the valley and a new photo contest is released.
- June 6, 2023: Update 5, The Remembering, reveals the Fairy Godmother as the resident of the pumpkin house, and adds a massive new story line in which you come face to face with The Forgetting themselves.
- April 5, 2023: Update 4, Pride of the Valley, adds a The Lion King realm, in which a story unravels starring Simba and Nala – and a lot of Hyenas. There’s also a new surprise when you increase your friendship with Buzz.
- February 16, 2023: A Festival of Friendship reunites Olaf with Elsa, and introduces us to Mirabel Madrigal and the Mini-Casita.
- December 6, 2023: Update 2, Missions in Uncharted Space lets you unlock Stitch in Dreamlight Valley, and Toy Story characters Buzz and Woody.
- October 19, 2023: Scar’s Kingdom adds Dreamlight Valley Scar quests to the Disney game, revealing the new Mines, and new resources.
